A day after price details about the rumored Xiaomi Mi 5c were leaked, a new report sheds light on the specifications and design of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi 5c is believed to be successor to the Mi 5, which was launched earlier this year.
Xiaomi has so far launched two more variants of the smartphone, Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. The Xiaomi Mi 5c has been though rumored for quite some time. Earlier, the smartphone was dubbed as the Xiaomi Meri.
The latest set of leaks, as reported by XiaomiToday, shows a black color variant of the Mi 5c. On the front, the selfie camera lens is located above the display, which is expected to come with 2.5D glass protection, and the home button below it. The home button is also expected to double as a fingerprint scanner. On the back, the rear camera lens is located on the top left of the smartphone with the Xiaomi logo embedded below. Based on the leaked images, the Mi 5c does look a lot like the Xiaomi Mi 5.

The new leaks also shed light on specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5c. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is expected to feature a 5.5-inch with slim bezels. Under the hood runs an in-house developed processor, dubbed as Pinecone. It is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz and paired with Cortex A53 coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device will come onboard storage of 64GB. For photography, the Xiaomi Mi 5c is likely to sport a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera up front. The Xiaomi Mi 5c will have the latest MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. For connectivity, only NFC support has been revealed in the image, for the Mi 5c. The smartphone will be available in two color options of black and rose gold.
If rumors are to be believed then, the Mi 5c will be Xiaomi’s first smartphone to come with the company’s own Pinecone chipset. Xiaomi has been working for quite some time on its in-house processor and it will be joining the likes of Samsung’s Exynos and Huawei’s Kirin processors. Currently, Xiaomi uses Qualcomm’s and MediaTek’s processors to power it smartphones. It had been reported last year, that Xiaomi’s Pinecone chipset would make its presence in the mid-range and entry-level smartphones in 2016. It had also been rumored that Xiaomi’s home-grown chipset would come with its smartphones like the Mi 5 itself, and also the Mi Max phablet. The wait could finally be over with the Xiaomi Mi 5c, if the rumors do turn out to be true.
Recent leaks revealed the expected pricing of the Mi 5c which is RMB 999 (Rs 9,900 approximately). The pricing fits the rumor of the Mi 5c being an entry-level smartphone. This however contradicts previous rumors about the Mi 5c’s price of RMB 1,499 which roughly translates to Rs 14,800 approximately. There has been a change on the launch date of the Mi 5c as well. Earlier it was expected to launch on December 12, but the latest reports suggests a November 30 launch date for the Mi 5c, which is less than a week away. On the very same day, Meizu is also expected to announce its latest Flyme OS 6 along with a smartphone which will probably be the rumored Meizu X.(copyrights to the respective owners)
