Now it seems, Facebook is deciding to follow in the footsteps of its subsidiary and pull all its services from RIM’s ailing platform.
In a post on their blog, Blackberry said that, “We are extremely disappointed in their decision as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands.”
Blackberry revealed that the change will mean that BBOS users will lose support for Facebook contact synching, Blackberry Hub integration and the ability to share media on the social media platform via the share button.
This does not mean, however, that BBOS users will not have access to Facebook at all. Come the 31st of March, Blackberry will replace the official FB app with a new native app that will will funnel users to the web-version of Facebook.
The company’s changelog says that, “Those wishing to continue using Facebook are encouraged to move to the web-based experience which will provide the most feature rich alternative.”
